I order to use opensolris under vmware in windows you just need to select the guest operating system as Sun Solaris > Solaris 10 during the creation of virtual machine and it works! although the performance is a bit too slugguish!

OK I got opensoalris working under winodws with vmware but still the internet is not working, I have selected bridged netwoking mode from vmware, for linux distros under vmware it used to work out of the box . may be for solaris is need to tweak something else too?

try disabling any firewalls that you may have installed in Windows, that may solve the problem

I have successfully installed OpenSolaris 200805 in VMWare 6.04, selecting Solaris 10 during creation process. Appears to be functioning nominally.

One issue - using NAT networking, cannot install packages using pkg - get errors.

Will post errors in a new thread.
