Hi,
Here is the context of my question:
I have a Solaris 10 10/09 installed on a laptop. It works fine.
I have a new laptop (similar to the other, but not exactly identical hardware) on which I would like to install the same version of Solaris (to be sure to have the closest configuration to the other laptop).
However, the driver of my new laptop network card (Intel 82579LM) is not included in Solaris 10 10/09. It is included in the Solaris 10 8/11, latest version. It is the e1000g driver (Intel Gigabit Ethernet).
==> Can I copy the e1000g driver of Solaris 8/11 and install it on the older version of Solaris?
Note: I have tried to associate the network card (pci8086, 0x1502) to the e1000g driver 09/10 (thanks to /etc/driver_aliases) but it doesn't work (I have already used this technique successfully for other cards).
Thank you very much for your advice.
