I successfully installed desktop "edition" (with Gnome desktop) of OpenIndiana oi_151a to an older x86 (32-bit) laptop. I would like to use it with a PCMCIA WLAN card Planet WL-3563 with a NdisWrapper based driver (already built but not installed yet). However, immediately after inserting the card, the machine hangs completely and the only "solution" to "revive" it is a hard reset. If I power on the machine with the card inserted, a Grub menu displays, when the only available option is chosen, a boot splash is displayed, its slider is moved a few steps, then the machine hangs.
I have googled for the problem and a similar problem on Ubuntu Linux was solved by supplying an 'irqpoll' parameter to the kernel as described at:
[all variants] PCMCIA pc card causes total freeze crash - Ubuntu Forums
Is there an equivalent setting for OpenIndiana?
If you need additional system messages, please let me know how to get them, as mentioned, I am running a graphical desktop (Gnome).
