Default network access

It seems to me that there is a Catch 22 in Opensolaris. The Device driver utility can't find a driver for my network card and suggests a third party driver. I find a suitable third party driver but I can't install it from the internet with Opensolaris because I don't have a network card driver to access the network!
Then I find that the packagemanager software won't allow me to access a local disk to install it from either!
Am I missing something really obvious here or is this really the state of play?

Thanks for the reply. Sorry I didn't make it quite clear. I downloaded the required driver but I can find no way of installing it. If I click on the file and select packagemanager to run that file it seems to ignore it completely and only shows me what's on the install CD. Likewise if I run packagemanager directly I can't then address the file on the local disk (actually a USB stick) even when I can see the file in the filemanager.
Hope this helps,

I am having the exactly same problem with opensolaris 2009.06 live bootable CD that i have, i am just not getting how to install the third party driver though i have it in my pen drive, the 'pkgadd' wont work as it says i am not the root, and i don't know how to login as root because it automatically logs in as jack. the pkg and install command, that i tried out of the blue, are of no avail. kindly help.
