How do you enable the OpenSolaris firewall?

OpenSolaris comes with the usual ipfilter firewall , you can enable it through

Code:

svcadm enable ipfilter

It can be quite overwhelming to deal with in beginning, for detailed configuration I suggest that you read its man page or some tutorial

Is the firewall enabled by default on a normal OpenSolaris install?

I think it is disabled, you can check it via svcadm on your machine
