Hi All,
I am trying to create a folder in /export/home/user1 directory as a user1 but I am getting the error message as
-bash-3.00$ mkdir abc
mkdir: Failed to make directory "abc"; Permission denied

Also I tried creating the folder but it fails too
-bash-3.00$ touch abc
touch: cannot create abc: Permission denied

I tried creating the directory as root and it was successful. I checked the permission for /export, it was drwxr-xr-x
I changed the permission to drwxrwxr-- but still I am not able to create the folder as a user.

I would like to know what is the reason and how to create the folder as a user in /export/home directory

I tried googling but dint get solution. Please suggest.

Plz check the status of "autofs" (svcs -a | grep autofs). If it is online, you will not be able to create file or directory in home directory.
If it is enabled, disable it (svcadm disable autofs).

Could you please send the output of the following command?

ls -ld /export/home/user1
id user1
