Default User Administration (Solaris)

Im new to the Solaris environment but have been managing AIX... We currently have about 5 Solaris servers which we are currently trying to configure for connection with this, I have a set of questions regarding Solaris USer Administration policies:

1. How can I configure a policy wherein a user will be automatically logged off after 5 mins idle time? (should be 5 minutes)
>> tried doing this:
#vi /usr/dt/config/C/sys.resources
(edited the following field)
dtsession*lockTimeout: 5 ***do i need to restard the server to have this in effect?

2. Failed Login retries before exiting login exits (should be 5 retries)
>tried this:
#vi /etc/default/login
(Edited the following)

3. How can entries in /etc/default/passwd be in effect after I edited the file?
(edited the following)

(so far only PASSLENGTH is effective)

Hope you can help on this matter. Thanks.
