Default solaris tar: directory checksum error

When I download a file from internet and try to un tar or extract it in solaris

via tar -xvf I get the directory checksum error

I am sure the file is not corrupt and I am able to extract it without any problems in Linux
why do I get these error in Solaris ?

There is some compatibility issue between linux and solaris tar

on solaris you need to first gunzip the file, than extract its content by tar -xf

Hope that helps
